Valencia, Spain

A Chapter of Rebirth, Not a Forever Home

"In Valencia, I remembered what it felt like to live slowly, sensually, and with reverence for pleasure."

When I decided to move to Spain, I thought Valencia would be my place.

It made sense on paper: a coastal city with a slower pace of life, rich history, affordability, and plenty of sunshine. After nearly a decade of being landlocked in the U.S., the ocean called to me. I arrived in April and lived there through May and June, thinking I’d settle in and begin my next chapter.

But by the time June rolled around, I knew: Valencia wasn’t my forever home.

Still, it was exactly the home I needed for that particular chapter.

Through the lens of astrocartography, the pull toward Valencia made perfect sense. About 120 miles northwest of the city lies my Mars Ascendant line. Mars is the planet of action, drive, and ambition. The Ascendant is the point of self—how we meet the world and how the world meets us. That line alone suggests a push to do and become.

Then, just 15 miles south of Valencia, I have a Sun-Jupiter paran—two of the most expansive and identity-affirming energies in the chart. The Sun represents selfhood, vitality, purpose. Jupiter brings growth, optimism, and wisdom. The two together signify radiant confidence and a chance to step into a more expanded, bolder version of myself.

As an entrepreneur in a period of major transition, it felt like divine timing. This was going to be the place I’d root into a new version of myself and grow my business. The symbolism felt even deeper when I realized I was born in Valencia, California, and that my great-great-grandparents on my grandfather’s side were from Spain. Moving here felt like a full-circle moment. A rebirth. A return.

But here’s the thing about astrocartography—it doesn’t promise permanence. It offers potential. And Valencia was powerful for me in exactly that way. It gave me the energetic launchpad I didn’t know I needed.

This city became a spiritual and energetic threshold. It held the version of me who had lived in the U.S., and it helped midwife the woman I’m becoming now—living abroad, embodying my purpose more confidently, integrating all of my identities more seamlessly. I began to feel like the version of myself that people had always seen in me but that I hadn’t quite embodied yet.

That’s the magic of a Mars Ascendant and a Sun-Jupiter paran. Action. Confidence. Identity. And that’s what Valencia gave me—not a forever home, but a powerful portal.

It was never about staying forever. It was about answering a call, both ancestral and energetic. And sometimes that’s all a place is meant to be.
