✈️ How I Made My International Move Happen: Visas, Alignment, and Trusting the Right Help

Making an international move isn't just about flights and suitcases—it's about strategy, timing, trust, and often, the right guide showing up when you need them most.

For me, that guide came in the form of Michelle the Lux Nomad.

My First Plan: The Netherlands & the DAFT Visa

When I decided to move abroad, I initially set my sights on the Netherlands. It had long held a special place in my heart—especially Den Haag (The Hague)—and the DAFT visa seemed like the perfect fit as I was launching my business, Cardinal People & Culture.

But almost immediately, I ran into obstacles—specifically around housing. The Netherlands was (and still is) facing a major housing shortage, and no matter how prepared or proactive I was, I kept hitting walls. I had the vision, the plan, and the visa pathway—but I couldn’t get in the door.

Enter: Michelle the Lux Nomad

Just when I started feeling discouraged, Michelle's account (@michelletheluxnomad) appeared in my feed. Her services were designed specifically for people like me: driven, intuitive women ready to move abroad but unsure how to navigate the maze of visas, bureaucracy, and logistics.

We connected for a call almost immediately after I discovered her, and from the very beginning, it was clear: she was the person who could help me move this dream forward.

Through Michelle, I learned something unexpected: I could apply for a visa through Spain—even if my heart was still set on living in Den Haag. At that point, I hadn’t even considered Spain. In fact, I had never been. But as soon as that door opened, I felt something shift.

I was open. And the Universe had a new plan for me.

The Paperwork, the Waiting, the Leap

Once I signed on with The Lux Nomad and was connected with their appointed attorney, things started moving—slowly, then all at once. I spent months gathering documentation, making multiple trips to Houston to submit and resubmit paperwork, and—perhaps the biggest move of all—selling everything I owned to prepare for life abroad.

It took longer than I expected. The waiting was hard. The process tested my patience and pushed me to trust that everything was unfolding exactly as it should.

And now, looking back from the other side—I can see that it did.

Sometimes, the Path Changes—and That’s the Point

I thought I was going to the Netherlands. But the Universe rerouted me to Spain. I thought I needed to have it all figured out—but what I needed was to stay open. To let the plan evolve. To trust the helpers who showed up to guide me.

And to believe that what’s meant for us won’t pass us by—even if it looks different than we imagined.
